AC-501 forms a chemical bond with the iron in rust (Iron Oxide0 to destroy the character of the rust. the resulting treated surface will resist rusting and will not wash off with water. The corrossion process being perpetuated by the rust is stopped and the treated surface which adheres strongly to the base metal provides a good base for painting.
